This is an open question to anyone using Linksys Cams.
Give us some feedback on our newest iPhone application.

Do you like it?
What do you think we can improve?
Do you have any thoughts or suggestions?

Hi zamorc,

There is no picture because the camera is sending mpeg4 video.
Could you try this to change the output.

Open this link in a browser:

http://<ip address>:<port>/adm/file.cgi?h_videotype=mjpeg&todo=save

Replace the <ip address> with your camera IP address (i.e. 192.168.1.100). Replace port with the port the server is running on (this is usually 80).

Then try the iPhone software again.

Let me know if that helps.

I also get "File (null) not found". Question Isn't this link just to set output of camera to mjpeg?

The Link is supposed to set the camera output to Motion JPEG.

However, for some reason the WVC200 does not output the motion JPEG in the standard multipart response that they do in other models.

As I said to Rick I am intend to submit a new app to Apple today for approval that will get the WVC200 working at least until I can figure out how to decode their motion JPEG content.

Just curious if you had intentions of adding the unsupported cams to the software. I have the app but ufortunatly my linksys WVC54GC is on the not supported list and I want to keep tabs on the Nanny.

Is there any work around? As well we use these cams at the office and I would like everyone to be able to call them up on their company iPhones.

It's a great program regardless. I'm just wondering if there might be a workaround or somthing I'm doing wrong? I have to use a soloLink URL becuase my ip changes frequently. So I don't know if that is causing a problem.

Thanks Kindly for your time

Kd

Hi Kd,

Unfortunately those two particular models of Linksys cameras only output 1 type of video.
This video is a Microsoft variant of MPEG4 and cannot be decoded on the iPhone.

There is no easy work around I am afraid. You would need to setup a service that transcodes in real time the video into a format the iPhone can handle.

Its unlikely we will be able to support this model.
Thankfully The latest versions of Linksys products offer more video formats to support more operating systems.

Will your software allow the Iphone to view a Linksys WVC210? Will the audio in/out work? Can you make the PTZ of the camera work? What setup options are required?

The WVC210 does work but it may need special configuration to allow access to the motion jpeg stream.
I will have to look into it.

The app doesn't support audio because the audio uses a microsoft codec that is unsupported in the iPhone.

I would enable PTZ functions but I cannot find the API required to move the camera.
If I can get it it will be added to a later version.

I have installed the app and am having trouble accessing multiple (3) cams. Every cam shows the same video. I have the correct address with port, but can't figure this one out.

I think you will need to set up each camera on a different port.

For example

Camera 1: http://<address>:1024/
Camera 2: http://<address>:1025/
Camera 3: http://<address>:1026/

Regards,
Aidan
