Thanks for this app, it has a lot of potential if teh following can be improved upon?

1) Is there any way the quality of the video can be increased as my camera (WVC210) is showing what looks to be a medium quality stream using this application. If I use another iphone application using the following url stream, it is high quality ... (note this cam is in Australia so it may be night when you view it) ....

http://guest:guest@www.theshackbythebeach.com:6666/img/video.mjpeg

I realise high quality = higher bandwidth, however I'm on a good plan and bandwidth isn't an issue. Maybe the video quality could be selectable?

2) When the iphone is rotated into landscape mode, the video doesn't fill up the entire screen. As mentioned above, another iphone app I have (IRA PRO) uses the full screen.

3) I like the ability to move the camera, this is missing from all other iphone aps I have tested. Would it be also possible to enable the presets so that its quick to move the camera on this app?

I have the Cisco WVC210 HTTP API PDF document that I can email to you if this will help?

Thanks in advance
Ian

Hi,

The quality of the image is often a difficult decision.

When Apple test an application before releasing it on the App Store they check what bandwidth it consumes on cellular networks.

If it uses to much they will reject the app. I doesn't matter what an individual's data plan. It is the effect on the entire network that they worry about.

To use high quality streams would mean limiting the app to WIFI only. Which I would prefer not to do.

When in landscape mode I don't fill the screen because I wanted to maintain the original aspect ratio of the image.

We are planning to add the preset positions to a future version but we need to design aneffective user interface for it.

Thanks for your comments they are very useful and we will certainly take them into account.
If you would like to send me the PDF you can send it to info@ eyespyfx.com

Regards,
Aidan

Hi Aidan, thanks for the response.

I understand the logic behind limiting the bandwidth, however Apple have already approved one of your competitors video application (ira) and they use the high resolution video stream via 3G. If Apple are telling you they won't/can't approve the high bandwidth feed then they are discriminating against you as your competitors got approved? Perhaps a way around may be to offer wifi or 3g on your setup page, as this is how it works on ira.

Re maintaining the aspect ratio, again, maybe this could be an option on the setup page too with full screen or maintain AR being selectable?

Finally, to me the way to pan right is counter intuitive to how other Apple iphone aps work. For example, to pan around a photo you move the image right to see more on the left hand side. On your app it works the opposite way around, ie, you move to right to see more image to the right. It took me a while to figure this out ...

I have just emailed you the pdf document, hopefully it can be released with the higher bandwidth?
Cheers
Ian

I have the WVC54G (not the GC). I purchased the iphone app because a reviewer said that you and he got the WVC54G to work by changing the camera to Motion jpeg. I made that change before I bought the app and found that I could view the camera image now in Firefox (although the Linksys viewer no longer works). However, even though my phone has the green dot indicating it has made connection with the camer there is no image. Please advise.

Hi,

Would it be possible for me to have test access to the camera so that I can check the camera here in the office?

If so could you please email me info @ eyespyfx.com

Aidan

Hi Ian,

Sorry I haven't been on the forum much recently I have been snowed under the last 2 weeks.

We are going to begin work upgrading Linksys cams to support the iPad so I will add the higher quality video code in then.

Sorry again for the delay.
